My final undergraduate project was completed within the bioclimatics college, which places an emphasis upon sustainability in building design.
The project, for a community centre in Salford, consists of an external glass envelope enclosing two internal pavilions. The southern facade is a solar air collector consisting of a double skin of glass containing metal louvres. The roof carries an array of photovoltaic cells for electricity generation. The west facade is extensively shaded by colourful recycled plastic louvres to prevent overheating.
